Who Needs a Nutrition Program?

Did you know that 2/3rds of diseases are caused by diet? Cancer and heart disease are the leading diseases in America.
Did you know that nutrition is the leading predictor for both these diseases?
Did you also know that nutrition is typically not covered in the leading Medical Schools? This never made much sense to me. This is why as a chiropractor I have put so much attention on the good nutrition of my patients!

Nutrition is so important—yet so many people simply don’t take action to learn more about what kind of nutrition is right for them. This makes sense since in today’s society so much emphasis is place on buying and taking a “magic pill” advertised by the pharmaceutical companies. We take a different approach at our practice. Chiropractors are frequently schooled in the non-pharmaceutical supplements that can greatly aid their patients recovery. The cost of these supplements is much less than pharmaceutical drugs, and without the negative side effects.

Here’s what we suggest: If improving your nutrition in a safe, intelligent manner is important to you (it should be!), then please call our office to schedule an appointment. We’re happy to help in any way we can!

More information about the natural, whole food supplements we recommend for our patients can be found at http://www.standardprocess.com/.

New research shows why eating fish is a great way to stay healthy… and happy!

Why are nutritionists raving about the health benefits of eating fish? The first reason is the omega-3 fatty acids found in abundance in fish. What is the benefit of omega-3 fatty acids? Harvard and others have documented that omega-3 is associated with a lowered risk for heart disease!

What types of fish have the most health benefits? It is generally agreed that cold water fish are packed with omega-3’s, including these types of fish:

  • Salmon
  • Mackerel
  • Tuna
  • Lake Trout
  • Sardines

I’ve recently read some controversy over so-called “farm raised fish”. It was alleged that farm raised fish was not as healthy. However, there is absolutely no proof that this is true. (I’ll continue to monitor this, in case new information becomes available. But let’s wait for the research before we jump to false conclusions!)

The second reason to eat fish…is because it might make you emotionally happier. There is new evidence published in the American Journal of Psychiatry that suggests that an omega-3 acid called “E-EPA” prevents clinical depression. Six of 10 patients taking a fish-oil supplement noted a 50% reduction in their depression levels.

My advice: Combining chiropractic with a nutritious diet is the path to a disease free life. Eat fish for good health— it might just put a smile on your face!
